Bloom Communications was tasked with generating positive third party visibility and overall communications management for the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization. Our primary purpose was to increase the influence of the nonprofit and its partner organizations, including promoting their visibility, share of voice, and credibility by generating public awareness for their policy agenda during the 2017 Texas state legislative session.
Working as the nonprofit’s communications agency, we first established a new messaging platform for the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition designed specifically with reporters in mind. We then used a highly targeted media outreach strategy to continually earn positive media exposure and garner attention among those impacted by issues within the criminal and juvenile justice systems, the general public, as well as influencers and decision makers at the Texas state legislative level.
During the 2017 legislative session (January – May 2017), our representation of the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition and its partner organizations resulted in 45 original, high-quality editorial and broadcast feature media placements in a strategic combination of local and statewide media outlets with high visibility to target audiences. Key coverage included KXAN, KVUE, Texas Public Radio, Baptist Standard, Dallas Morning News, Spectrum News Austin, Houston Chronicle, and The Texas Tribune, among others.
